Candy Glass

Every year around Christmas time, my family sits down and writes out a list of all the flavors of candy glass we want. Last year we made all fruit flavors, which was our favorite year yet! Candy glass has very little ingredients, however it can be a tricky thing to make. Also, if you are not careful the fun project can turn into a dangerous event.

What you will need:

- 3 cups of sugar
- 1 cup of corn syrup
- 1 cup water
- 3 drops of food coloring (color depending on flavor)
- 1 tsp. of a flavored extract (I am using green apple)
- oil or non-stick spray
- Candy thermometer
- medium saucepan
- cookie sheet
- parchment paper

Steps:
1.) Combine sugar, corn syrup and water in the saucepan. Attach candy thermometer to the side of the pan, making sure it is deeply submerged but does not touch the bottom of the pan.

2.) Heat the pan on medium-high heat, wait until the candy mixture gets to 290 to 300 degrees.

3.) While you are waiting, put the parchment paper on the cookie sheet and spray with non-stick spray.

4.) When the candy mixture comes to the right temperature, quickly stir in food coloring and extract without removing from heat.

5.) Immediately pour the mixture on the greased parchment paper and let cool to room temperature. Be very careful the mixture is super hot!

6.) Once the candy is soft but not hot you can start cutting the candy or wait till it is a little bit harder and break the candy to pieces.

This is a great treat and lasts along time! When making the smell fills your house with the great candy aroma! I hope you enjoy this candy as much as I did. Enjoy!
